Hm, I think I remember faintly that this menu was problematic in the 3.0

Ooops. Hm, I did in fact use them exclusively (I rarely use an
interactive environment like Hugs or ghci at all).

Ok, I'm working on Linux since the beginning of the year, so I think I
will look into this issue in the near future. Unfortunately I will not
be able to do it before the Callisto release (because of the Yoxos
workload), so this problem has to wait until after 0.10 :-( But better
later than never ;-)

[eclipsefp-develop] Run an executable in a project

Hi,

when playing around with the current repo state, I noticed that it is no
longer possible to run the project's executable. The 'Run' and 'Run As'
menu items do not appear in the context menu and from the launch config
menu it is also not possible to run an application. Is this intended? Or
am I confusing something?

Actually, it is very certainly my fault. I will try to get it back in
place together with some tests to prevent me from removing them again,
but this menu entries never really worked for me. I always had to run
my Haskell binaries from some command line or external script.

So, no, you are not confusing anything, they actually disappeared. But
I hope they will come back for 0.10.0. :-)

Much better. Thanks for the help.

I will also try to take a look at this issue this afternoon, just
after the Brazil World Cup match. If we win the match, of course.
Otherwise, I don't think I will be in a very good mood :-)

Seems like it worked. ;-)

And I used my very good mood to do some experimenting... I found that
the context menu entry is there (it is labeled "Run Haskell
Application), but it is shown only when the project's target binary is
selected on the Haskell perspective (usually bin/theResult). Can you
find it?

At least the menu entry is shown on my current machine. I don't know
if it actually works because I am lacking the GHC compiler here, but
you could try.

Anyway, there is not enough time to fix this issue today. So I will be
releasing the code as it is now and this fix gets scheduled for the
next release.

Now, on a side discussion, I really don't like having to explicitly
select the compiled binary to be run. I like the JDT approach. It
doesn't require you to even know there are compiled binaries, you just
select any class that has an appropriate method (the static main
method) and it can be run. Maybe EclipseFP should provide something
similar: any module that has an appropriate main function can be run.
We can even get fancy if we want: select any no-parameter IO ()
function and it can be run.

I wonder what do you all (even if all is just me and Leif) think.

Hm, I think I did select the executable, but I might have been wrong
somewhere. I'll check a bit more thoroughly with the released version.

:-) Yes, that would be good. The main reason that I did not start into
that direction
was that I did not yet have a parser to find the main function, but that
should be
easy now. So this would be very good to have.
