The 'Purge Checkstyle caches' toolbar action violates Eclipse UX standards because it provides a textual label. Also, the label occupies an inordinate amount of screen real estate - if every toolbar action did this the toolbar would be unusable. As it is, the Checkstyle action is ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb - see attached screen-shot.

Beyond that, it's unclear exactly what this action does - the tooltip is uninformative as it merely duplicates the action label. What does Checkstyle cache and why/when might one need to purge it? The action gets no mention in the documentation.

This button was added to realize a feature request (https://sourceforge.net/p/eclipse-cs/feature-requests/165/) but was supposed to be hidden by default - only to be displayed if a user intentially reconfigured a perspective to include the button.
Apparently the hiding part this didn't quite work. I'll see if this can be improved, if not the button will be removed again.

This had been improved upon in release 7.6.0 already, sorry for not closing the bug. The toolbar item should now be consistently hidden to start with. Users asking for this feature can un-hide the item by configuring the perspective actionsets accordingly.
The button remains ugly, however, but at least the tooltip is more informative.
