Hi all, Two versions, you say? Yes, there are two versions. Let me explain a bit more, and then I'll give the links. In October, Bill contracted a company in Columbia named Parquesoft (http://www.parquesoft.com) to develop a Spanish version of EClass, and also to make any changes/improvements they saw necessary. They released a draft to us last week, and I would like to get your comments on some of the new features. This is not an "official" release of EClass; it is for testing and review purposes only. Some of the things they have done are: 1. Of course, added a translation system into EClass with Spanish translations 2. Added an "Authors/Instructors" list. (There is a bug and it is not saving data currently, but please review the interface.) 3. Changed the EClass Page editor to be more graphical and use a 'tab-based' format. It is important to note that this demo is based upon EClass.Builder 2.0beta 3, and does not properly open EClass Pages built with other versions of EClass (they made some changes to the format), so please test it by creating a new course. You can download the prototype at: http://www.eclass.net/Downloads/eclass_parquesoft.zip (double-click on "editor.exe" to start. In the meantime, I have been at work on making some improvements to EClass.Builder 2.0. I have posted an "alpha" of the next version, 2.1, for download. The URL is: http://www.eclass.net/Downloads/EClass-Builder2.1a1.exe (for Mac users: http://www.eclass.net/Downloads/EClassBuilder21a1.dmg) What's changed? - New Quiz page format. To create a quiz, select "Page->Add New->Quiz" from the menu bar, or right-click and select "Add New->Quiz". Currently it only works with multiple choice, and auto-grades, but support for more formats and submitting results to the Instructor are on the drawing board. - EClass now warns about files which have more than 31 characters in the file name, and can automatically rename them. Files with more than 31 characters were being renamed on OS 9, thus causing some of the links to break. - Fixed a problem with the credit handling that caused credit boxes containing quotation marks to partially appear on the page, instead of a new window. - Should fix problems with the "edit" button not working with files over a network on Windows - On Mac: Now has the standard Mac install procedure - none! Just drag the EClass.Builder file into your /Applications folder to install! (and into the trash to uninstall!) Thanks, Kevin |
