I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am about to tear my hair out so I will try anything. I am new to Linux and have Red Hat 7.3 running on a laptop. So far so good! I would like to use my usb modem and found this driver that is supposed to work with a Zoom ADSL modem as well as a few others. However, I can not get the thing loaded. I have downloaded the .rpm package onto a floppy and when I run it on the laptop I get - "unpacking of archive failed on file usr/share/doc/eciadsl-usermode-0.5/howto.ps;3d6203d3: cpio: read failed - Bad file descriptor"
Please help! Thanks!
Are you using 'rpm -i' to uinstall the rpm ?
If this is the case, try to donwload package again.
Thank you for your advice. I uninstalled, downloaded the rpm and installed it with no problems. However, how do I configure the modem. RedHat manuals say that I should do it through the configurator but it doesn't list the proper modem - just a bunch of ethernet cards. How can I get around this?
