NextApp ships Echo 1.0, Sierra 1.0

Irvine, CA -- June 9, 2003 -- NextApp, Inc. (www.nextapp.com) today announced the availability of its Echo Web Application Framework, Version 1.0, and Sierra Toolkit, Version 1.0, for download.

NextApp, Inc. is pleased to announce the first public preview of the Echo Web Application Framework. Echo is an open-source framework for building Web-based user-interfaces to J2EE applications using an event-driven, object-oriented API. Echo removes the developer from thinking in terms of "page-based" applications, instead enabling him/her to create Web-based interfaces using a methodology similar to that of Java Swing. The developer is allowed precise control of the client browser without the need for any HTML or JavaScript programming. The only server-side requirement is a Java Servlet 2.2 Container. Echo does not use any client-side plug-ins, Applets, or ActiveX controls: it works with any JavaScript1.3 capable browser such as Mozilla, Internet Explorer, or Netscape.... read more
