This is a new maintanance release. Echelog 0.6.3 adds support for AMD64 platform and fixes some bugs in existing code. GCC version 4 is now supported. Some security issues concerning expoiting function stacks on some architectures have been fixed in this release.
This release focuses on improvements in on-line filtering. Users can now easily group messages by size, originator's IP address, agent type and instance, etc. Text information (including text fields in message headers) can be matched with enhanced regular expressions. Log reader handling of rotated log files is smarter as it can even read information appended to already rotated files (favorite syslog/logrotate technique). The binary storage module is more paranoid to avoid a possibility of a log corruption.
The new version includes support for modern Linux distributions, many fixes and cleanups, webtools update and a brand new Quick Start Guide. All users are encouraged to upgrade.
Finally, a release version of Echelog 0.6 is ready. It is still considered beta but it should be mature enough. Give us your feedback -- use sf tracking tools or write us to Echelog mailing list.
