I do agree. I think also we miss tournaments GUI. It's not easy to join 
and play a tournament in FICS for newcomers, but it is often what chess 
players find to enjoy playing and meet other players.

PlayChess (Chessbase) or Buho21 have very goog tournament GUI for instance.
