Host Found!

Big thanks to Everson Todoroki for helping to establish a (more) permanent host for EBJava. This will be our production server for now and should provide a much better solution than me using my own pc for it.

EBJava running on the new host can be found at http://eb.ol.com.br/EBJava.html (yep, he even set up a subdomain for this), and I'll get around to updating links and all soon.

There is, however a small catch: AIM now refuses to log on. I don't know exactly why it is doing this, as it was working just fine not too long ago, but I guess I will try to have this resolved within the next couple of days. Who knows, this might be the impetus that will get me working actively on EBJava again.

In any case, I'm leaving the server running as it is now, so drop me a line if you have a comment on how it performs. The server itself is a FreeBSD box running the Linux Blackdown JDK (I believe) and is plenty fast, though its connection to the Internet seems to lag a bit where it crosses out of its home country. Everson says to be prepared for mirrors in two other countries, though, so I guess soon I'll be running out of excuses as to why I havn't finished the project :)

Oh, and the user accounts were not moved to the new server, so everyone will have to recreate their accounts. I didn't think this would be too much of a problem for anyone, and I wanted to release the hundreds of screen names that will probably never be used again.

Enjoy,
Chris Carlin
