Hi Tom, yes, I'm aware of the problem and I have a fix for it. I *thought* this was already on github, but it seems that it is not... I'll upload it as soon as I get the chance, today or tomorrow. In the mean time, you can work around it by opening your .bib file in Emacs. The problem is that Ebib uses code from bibtex.el, but in Emacs 24, bibtex.el needs to initialize a variable (bibtex-dialect) before it can do anything.
