I just downloaded the EasySQL plugin for: Eclipse SDK Version: 3.1.2 Build id: M20060118-1600 It is pretty freaking awesome. I connected to a local mysql database on windows xp profesional. I usually deploy my software on Linux debian sarge or Linux "stable ubuntu." Now, I have started using sqlite as a gateway to mysql to control custom types and cataloging. I wish to use this EasySQL to interact with my sqlite database. I got a jar from: http://www.malcolmhardie.com/sqleditor/cocoa/manual/html/ch09s06.html However I am not sure what else to use as the config settings when creating a new connection. I am primarily confused on what to set as the "Name", "Username", "Password", "URL" and "Driver".... If any of you have been successful in connecting to an sqlite db with EasySQL could you please talk me through it? Any suggestions would be great. hello, I'm having difficulties installing the EasySQL plugin in Eclipse on OSX. I've tried installing both 1.0.5 and 1.0.6 Whenever I run eclipse after installing these items, I get no error messages, but the preferences window will not display when I select the menu item. Same goes for the Help > Configuration window. Anyone have a solution? thx, foltz p.s. just tried sending the same email from a personal account, but got a bounce response. hopefully this isn't redundant. |

Hmm...not currently You'll have to extract all the jars, then create one jar file. > Hi, > > I use Informix Database! I am using McKoi DB (www.mckoi.com/database) a 100% java SQL database. The symptom is that the dialog box (for defining a new connection) won't dissapear nor popup any message after clicking accept. Eclipse used: v2.1 M4. Hi All! I just installed the easy-sql plugin in eclipse 2.1 M4. When I try to create a new connection, I fill all the fields and click OK, but nothing happens, the dialog box remains on top and no new connection is created. No error message or any clue that may help diagnose the problem. Any help very appreciated. Regards, Martin |

Well, I finally had some time and went back and tried this with both Oracle and Hypersonic (hsqldb). I don't know what I did previously, but I am now able to succesfully see the database stgructure for both of these. The Hypersonic tree starts with a "NoCatalog" node, but this node is exapndable and displays my tables. Tx for the prior quick response and keep up the good work - this will now be one of my "standard" Eclipse plugins. :) Dan. > Thanks for your comments. > Well, I tested and know easysql works with a few databases: mysql, > postgres, mssql and sybase. Thanks for your comments. Well, I tested and know easysql works with a few databases: mysql, postgres, mssql and sybase. I have not tested with oracle and other people have reported no tables appearing under Oracle. Is that what your using? I'm not sure why people are having this problem, maybe a permissions problem? The first action that takes places after a connection is the retrieval of catalogs (databases). So, its irrelevant if you connect to a database directly, because the tree displays all databases, then tables for each database, then columns for each table. Try ending your connection URL with just a / instead of a /databasename. Give me some more specifics on your problem, hopefully we can solve this. After opening a connection, I can successfully execute queries. However, I do not get a catalog of tables in a tree beneath the connection. Is there something I need to do to enable this? Thanks, and keep up the good work. BTW - I would like to use easysql because it seems to have a very nice integration into the overall eclipse workbench. JFaceDBC has a few more features in terms of maintaining driver connections, etc. but it is just *jammed* into eclipse. Dan Cox 703.259.2490 x1238 703.855.1468 Mobile http://cymbio.cysive.com |

Joe, I checked out HEAD as project. Rebuild classpaths didn't work for me, I ended up having to create a new plugin project so that I could get the org.eclipse package vars it created and added them to the classpath manually, then I was down to only a few errors which rebuild classpath did correct. I need to spend a little time familiarizing myself with what you have. I am new to the Eclipse model, but I need to jump in and get bruised :) My AIM sn is jpcrypt Sorry for the HTML email stuff. If you prefer it let me know, otherwise I will keep with the plain text. -----Original Message----- From: eas...@li... If you connect to the cvs repository checkout the project as a plugin project. Then right-click on the project and select "update classpath", it should find all the dependencies. If you get that working, I can add you to the developer list and you can extssh into CVS (so you can do commits). I typically like to create a branch for whatever functionality you plan on adding, you work there, when you are done, I'll check it over and you can commit to HEAD. I could look into adding a configuration panel for EasySQL? Would it be possible to update in blocks so that the refresh could be optimized? The accelerator would be useful for instances like the one you mentioned, or generally any other time you would want to right-click and choose refresh. Refresh Accelerator - Ctrl+Alt+R 2. Refresh when SQL statement begins with "create". The only slight problem with number 2 is, if you were to create a table via a statement like "insert into newtable select from oldtable" (which some DBMSs support) you would have to manually refresh. Plus number 2 would slow down, when you execute a bunch of create statements at once. Thoughts? Joe -----Original Message----- From: eas...@li... I would imagine I am not the only one using Easy SQL to create tables, and from the best that I can tell the current behavior doesn't provide any indication of a successful non-select statement. For instance, a create table command when issued, should refresh the connection view such that the newly created table is displayed. -JP |
