Sorry we took time to answer -- we're really swamped right now. Help is absolutely welcome !!! There aren't many document yet, because not many people outside of =20 the team that started it have helped. But we can start it as needed. Quick overview: the easyeclipse "assembly line" is written mostly =20 entirely with Jakarta Ant, so it's a lot of 'ant' files, plus some =20 custom tasks in Java. The metadata about how to build, package, etc. =20 each plugin, is stored in XML documents (the "repository"). The NSIS =20 installer is relatively simple, but there are always enhancement to do. I would propose that you select a few of the bugs and/or enhancement =20= requests, that you would be interested in fixing/implementing (you =20 can actually add your own... your two previous emails were very valid =20= enhancements requests). There are many of them: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=3D131065&atid=3D719798 http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=3D131065&atid=3D719795 Then you can get the code, just to have an idea. In CVS it's the =20 Eclipse project: :pserver:ano...@ea...:/=20= cvsroot/easyeclipse, under easyeclipse/org.nexb.easyeclipse.releng . =20 You may also need the other projects in the same folder. I can help you select which bugs/enhancements would be a good start =20 (not too tough, but showing results !), we can discuss about it, and =20 then I can help you get you started, --=20 Fran=C3=A7ois Granade | nexB =E2=80=93 Open by Design Makers of EasyEclipse | http://www.easyeclipse.org fra...@ne... | 1-415-420-5969 | http://www.nexb.com On Mar 2, 2007, at 2:40 AM, M. I downloaded and ran easyeclipse for ruby and rails 1.2.1.1 I use win XP. I have a separate eclipse 3.2 installation which works just fine. When I ran easyeclipse it shuts down without giving me a message. I traced back to .metadata/.log and the error is "!ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 4 2007-02-09 17:06:07.390 !MESSAGE Unhandled event loop exception !ENTRY org.eclipse.ui 4 0 2007-02-09 17:06:07.390 !MESSAGE Cannot bind to an incomplete key sequence !STACK 0 java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot bind to an incomplete key sequence" I tried all the directories under easyeclipse\plugins folder and the problem is about "org.rubypeople.rdt.ui_0.8.0.604272100PRD" When I remove that folder easyeclipse starts normally but -of course- without a ruby perspective. I tried removing all of the key sequences from plugin.xml but that didn't work. I asked this problem to radrails people but didn't get a response. Thanks Ufuk. |

Hi : No dark secret but a very directed choice we made for now. :-) Eclipse is really a self contained applications with many dependencies. While we could come with something that helps sharing and avoid redundant binaries, we made the conscious choice to waste disk space in favor of correctness when we started. This has proven so far better to avoid many small gremlins that have plagued the users of some Linux distro-provided Eclipse that are making every attempt to avoid redundancy. That being said, there is definitely work that can be done there to make things better! For one, we could have a way to share extra plugins between distros. We started playing with that on MacOS, and Linux and Windows should be laid out the same. Obviously help is welcomed :-P --=20 Cheers Philippe http://easyeclipse.org - http://phpeclipse.net - http://eclipse.org/atf > -----Original Message----- > From: [...] =20 > Sent: Thursday, February 01, 2007 8:56 AM > To: in...@ea... > Subject: Distro trees not shared?? >=20 >=20 > Hi - thanks for your work; it's a great help. >=20 > But I'm confused by the lack of any attempt to overlap installation=20 > trees and share components. Hi Joel: I checked the Koders update site, and if you get and check out the feature.xml inside that jar, (using any zip util) you will see that line: <feature url=3D"features/com.koders.eclipse.searchplugin_1.0.689.jar" id=3D"com.koders.eclipse.searchplugin" version=3D"1.0.689" nl=3D"en_AU,en_CA,en_GB,en_IE,en_IN,en_NZ,en_US,en_ZA,en"> Note the nl part. It looks like there are restrictions on the locale they support (mostly English locales) Could that be the reason? =20 Was http://www.koders.com/downloads/EclipseUpdateManager/beta the update site you used? The only other issue I could think of is that they do not support Java6. Their stuff is not open source so there is not much I can do unfortunately. =20 -- Cheers Philippe philippe ombredanne | 1 650 799 0949 | pombredanne at nexb.com nexB - Open by Design (tm) - http://www.nexb.com <http://www.nexb.com/>=20 http://easyeclipse.org <http://easyeclipse.org/> - irc://irc.freenode.net/easyeclipse http://phpeclipse.net <http://phpeclipse.net/> - irc://irc.freenode.net/phpeclipse -----Original Message----- From: eas...@li... Hello, I don't have an straightforward answer, my buddy Philippe is more the =20= PHP specialist than I am, and he is on vacation right now. So answer =20 may take until beginning of January, sorry. But your question is =20 very, very good and got me into interesting thinking about using =20 Eclipse, not only as an IDE, but as a "continuous build platform". =20 Thanks for the post. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am using EasyEclipse with PHPEclipse, and I want to do the following: I want to automate builds of code I have in a Subversion repos to a server. The build should only be performed if all tests written with SimpleTest passes (I have the SimpleTest plugin as well). So the following should happen: - - check out code from the subversion repos - - run tests - - if fail - stop build - - if pass - make a build to the server The subversion repos is working and the tests are working. However, I am not sure how to do the following: - - check out the code from the repos using ant? - - run the tests on the code? - - stop the build if tests fail? - - go on with the build if tests pass? Hope that you know more than me :) - -- Lars -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFgIpe38cNW+2JLEoRAuqbAJ0WipBEZytetc96DhWPWVBqx075hQCeJQPP 9Jn5v+Zocynoq1b56OHObuU= =AgR5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Hi all: we have released a new version 1.2.1.1. This a major bug fix for the C/C++, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python, and LAMP distributions. The 1.2.1 release introduced two bugs in the built-in Java runtime that those distributions require. Many people reported issues when using non-English languages and non-western European character sets. Linux users may also have experienced weird crashes and other unexplained problems. Download from http://easyeclipse.org -- Cheers Philippe |

And I forgot to mention that we found some serious bug in the way we have bundled Java runtimes. We are building a new version 1.2.1.1 that fixes that bug on the following distros: - C/C++ - Ruby and Rails - LAMP - PHP - Python Sorry for that. -- Cheers Philippe philippe ombredanne | 1 650 799 0949 | pombredanne at nexb.com http://easyeclipse.org - irc://irc.freenode.net/easyeclipse http://phpeclipse.net - irc://irc.freenode.net/phpeclipse |
