EasyBMPtoAVI Version 0.54 Released

EasyBMPtoAVI Movie Creator is an easy-to-use, cross-platform application that converts a series of windows bitmap (BMP) images to an AVI movie file. Currently, EasyBMPtoAVI Movie Creator is supported on both little-endian (e.g., x86) and big-endian (e.g., PowerPC, Sparc) machines on any platform (e.g., Windows XP, Sun Solaris, Unix, Linux, Mac OSX). Scientists may find this software particularly useful for creating animated visualizations from series of still images.

Version 0.54 adds two major feature enhancements, both of which are in response to insightful user requests. First, non-integral framerates (e.g., NTSC 29.97) are now supported. Second, users can (temporally) smooth the output by interpolating adjacent frames. This feature may be particularly useful for low-FPS movies where there are large jumps between frames.

Version 0.54 also adds an experimental feature: if a user so desires, temporal smoothing can be attained by interleaving adjacent frames, rather than interpolation. This option runs much more quickly than interpolation.

EasyBMPtoAVI may be downloaded as source or as a pre-compiled win32 binary here:
