It is possible. Choose 'Layers' from 'PCB View' toolbar - there click Annotations. From next version it will be possible to manage annotations/parts names/parts values separately.

You use FreeCAD 64 bit? If yes, that's why You do not have icons - I do not why they disappear in 64 bit version. I need to fix that.
Error - what version of FreeCAD You use? Because this error is from python module not from my script. I can disabled this function but this will be annoying - this function sorts layers in graphic window.
At the moment I used different syntax, but I don't know if it will help

As you can check in the Red error line ;-) it's freecad 0.14. I Just see there is a 0.15 version... I can test with it... Btw only 32b version anyway atm

From my point of view it would be desirable to import Eagle name & value layers in the same manner as top & bottom place layers. Then they can be globally turned on / off or not imported at all.
If I want to adjust these texts, I would do it in the source PCB file.
When I provide a model to Mechanical CAD people, it needs to be as simple as possible.
The editable texts for each part just bloat the model.

Well, Looks like appart from the fact that icons in the menu bar are missing, there is a small pb clicking on layer settings ;)
