e2salvage is a utility which tries to recover a data from damaged ext2 filesystems. It is able to handle much more damaged filesystem. Fsck connects found i-nodes to the lost+found directory. e2salvage instead tries to recover the directory structure.

myrescue Harddisc Rescue
myrescue is a program to rescue the still-readable data from a damaged harddisk. It is similiar in purpose to dd_rescue, but it tries to quickly get out of damaged areas to first handle the not yet damaged part of the disk and return later.
