I would like to see an option for a semidestructive test. The sector could be read in and then the data inverted and then written back and then read again and the original put back. At any time of the data does not come back we now have a bad block but we didn't destroy all the data on the drive to do it. The data on that sector would be messed up but recovery of the other data is possible.

The sector could also be read and the the standard destructive test done to it and then the data is written back after the test.
