The code in tune2fs seems to check for a mounted filesystem, yet doesn't seem to care whether the fs is mounted if one is simply using -c (or several other arguments.
It is believed to be safe to make this change on a mounted filesystem? Does the kernel not keep this portion of the superblock in core?
