Ok.. so I was looking all around for a way to open extension-less files in the Perl editor and was having no luck. But when searching for something to add emacs like tab indenting (anyone know of anything, EE2E only works with Java) I came across Emacsish http://home.austin.rr.com/selliott4/emacsish/ which gives a "Set Mode" option, so you can open the file in the default editor, then do Set Mode, pick the .pl extension and you are magically transported to the Perl editor. By no means an ideal solution but at least I can edit the files without changing established names.
I apologize in advance if there is a better way I have missed. Thought I would share, though.
