Variable names inside of double quotes in print or printf statements are not being colored correctly.
For example, in the following print statement:
print OUTPUT "Occurrence limiter set to $limiter.\n";
The variable name $limiter appears in the same color as the words 'Occurrence limiter set to'. Ideally, $limiter should be the same color as it would be in a variable declaration.
This behavior also exhibits itself in die statements such as the following, and most likely anywhere a variable name is surrounded by double quotes:
open( OUTPUT, ">$report" ) || die "Cannot open $report: $!";
