#16 Windoze Perl exe window

Every time an edit is made or a new file is opened the
Perl exectable is opened in a DOS window and then
immdiately closed. Unfortunately, this window
temporarily grabs focus so keystrokes are often lost to
this newly opened when coding. It would be preferable
if this was run in the background so focus was kept in
the editor. I'm sure you can empathize with the
frustrations this would cause.

I'm running on Win2k

Eclipse Platform
Version: 2.1.0
Build id: 200303272130

Epic Plugin v0.1.0 (downloaded this morning)

This is a known java problem.

Here are the solutions given in the FAQ:

    1. Using JDK 1.4 upward should fix the problem.
    2. If you are using ActiveState Perl use wperl.exe instead
of perl.exe in the EPIC preferences.
    3. If you want to use a different Perl interpreter (e.g.
cygwin perl) download launcher.zip unpack it (e.g. to
c:\launcher) and specify c:\launcher\launcher.exe in front
of the Perl Execuable in the EPIC preferences.
