Don't ask me why but the most noticeable memory leak problems occured for me
when using inline layers.  Since getting rid of most inline layers in my
code, the memory leaks are much smaller, but still there.

Yes.
And in IE5.0 (tho not as bad)
And it's not just DynAPI 2 either.
IE 5+ has a know problem with freeing up nested objects (objects within
other objects)
such as layers within laters, ect..
