In addition to Nuno's thoughts, I would add that without the table,
Netscape will not reflow the content when the layer is resized.  If you
write text into a 100px-width label that has no table, and then resized
the label to 200px in width, the text will remain wrapped as if it were
still 100px wide.  This is a Netscape-specific bug; IE happily reflows
the text automatically when you resize.
