[Dynapi-Dev] progress bar

This started on the help list, but I figure it's better off on the dev 
list now:

I'm interested in making a progress bar, any rules / guidelines I should 
follow? 

Any features I should think about?  Here's what I'm thinking so far:

settings:
width
height
forground color
background color

show % overlay ontop of progress bar
or
show text message overlay ontop of progress bar
