Can anyone tell me if there is a select list / combo box / drop-down widget for the newest version of the DynAPI, like Dan wrote for the initial DynAPI? Thanks, Ben |

Hi, I made some widgets (menubar and skinwindow) for a project and with = NS4.75 they don't always work. It looks like the browser stops loading = before the page is finished. The skinwindow won't always load and when = it loads it often hasn't got all the images for the skin. Can anyone help me? I've used the code on my homepage (http://www.geocities.com/elitw_nl) so = you can test it. CU Eli |

Hi, I'm working on a skinable window widget, but have a problem with = Netscape 4.75. The window works for both IE and NS, but with NS it's _very_ slow and = sometimes the images of the skin are missing. I'm using DynLayers for = the contents (and a LoadPanel if needed) and DynLayers for the separated = images of the skin. The window is created when needed and not on load = time (I don't know how many windows will be opened by the user). Is the speed problem a NS4 problem, or can I patch the DynAPI source to = make it faster? CU Eli |

Yes, I checked this, and it's a nice little widget, well coded. I was just wondering why you didn't simply use a label, you seem to have a possibility to do that in the widget, wouldn't it save a lot of code, and be easier to maintain? Check this for ideas: http://www.web-dizain.de/bubblehelp/ I'll put yours up when I upgrade to the coming release. What would be even better would be a generic buffer extension that would add methods to the DynLayer that would let you add buffers to the layer. I'm sure it could be done, although not very easily. This way you could add spacing for all layers, not just loadpanels. -- Robert Rainwater On 3/29/2001, 1:54:09 PM EST, Henrik wrote about "[Dynapi-Widgetdev] Buffer widget for loadpanel": > Really nice! :) > I was actually pondering about doing a similar hack (this is not first time we've both been at something ;) and merging it with the attached file which is taken out of my dynbuiler build (which > currently is very much pending) and was meant to be core gui in my DynAPI approach. Hey Nicola, Thanks for the feedback. <win 2000 ie 5.5 nothing happen :(> possible problems: my server timed out / screwed up the loadpanel widget has a problem my simple widget screwed up If you have time, could you check the loadpanel example below and recheck the original example? Also, is nothing displayed? Or is the page html being displayed but no loadpanelfrm window? Or is the layer being shown, but no content? Anyone else having any problems with this or someone else using win2k and ie5.5 have the same problem? Also, I noticed that in NS6, the page height is incorrectly displayed. It adds extra white space at the top of the loadpanel and forces the end of file off the visible page. Also, you have to sometimes load the file twice to get it to show. I assume it is trying to read content height and width prematurely. There is a fix for this, I will try it tonight and let you know. (yet another dc "hack"). Same example with no loadpanelfrm, straight loadpanel: http://www.merlinsworld.net/dynapi_ri_dcexamples/loadpanel_exmpl1.shtml Original loadpanelfrm exmpl: http://www.merlinsworld.net/dynapi_ri_dcexamples/loadpanelfrm_exmpl1.shtml Cheers, Dave C. Greetings, I was suprised to see the message that the bug report I submitted was closed with no explanation. I figured that maybe it was fixed in the current release, so I checked it. The problem still exists. onclick in ns4.x browsers does not function if you click over any object added by a setHTML command. My examples were using DynAPI widgets, not one of my modifications. So here we go again.... here is a sample page running on the 3-28 snapshot: http://www.merlinsworld.net/dynapi_ri_dcexamples/onclick01xx.shtml the original sample page running under pre X version: http://www.merlinsworld.net/dynapi_ri_dcexamples/onclick01.shtml the original bug report: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=105757&aid=405056&group_id=5757 If I am doing something incorrectly, at least a note in the bug report when closing would have been appreciated as I spent some time tracking this thing and went to the trouble of posting a page where it could be viewed. This example: http://www.resass.f2s.com/dynapi/Richard_Examples/DynAPI_by_email.html uses this glide lib: http://www.resass.f2s.com/dynapi/src/lib/richard/util/glide.js It's the Dynapi1 lib, modified by David C. Bros It's not using thread yet, so could do with some updating, but it works fine. I saw the starburst effect at http://www.doubleyou.com/dyworks.html , but they compressed their source, which makes it hard to read. Maybe they'll help if you ask. Hello to all you DynApi developers! This is my first mailing ever to a list like this so I hope that I don't breach protocol in any way. I will ask a question next then go on to add more info about my problem, so if you are not interested or busy you don't have to read too much. To cut to the quick: Could anyone help me with finding Glide behavours in DynAPI2? I'd like to do accelerated / decelerated glides and animate 3 layers at once. Is this using util.threads. Thanks, I'm sorry if the question is a bit dumb.I've tried reading FAQ's, The dynamic duo pages and Pascal's tutorials. All great but I'm still a bit lost. More info: I have started working with the DynAPI in attempts to create List and Collapse menus, create location maps for HTML, put up a kind of "starburst" menu, where on mouseover of a word child nodes burst out and surround the original words. The child nodes could links or contain other child nodes. DynApi looks excellent. I'm really impressed by the examples at richinfo.com and the original dynamic duo tutorial. I don't know how anyone finds time to do all of these things so well done to all the people associated with the project. I live in Spain and was impressed by the site at www.doubleyou.com . I don't know if you guys have seen their sites but they are all written with bits of dynlayers in them. They initially sent me looking for the DynAPI. By the way, doubleyou report on their site that they were sent an e-mail in early 2000 by Macromedia asking for their Flash ownership certificates. At that point they had never used Flash so even Macromedia mistook DynAPI for Flash! Ok. So back to me. I need to build a widget for the "burst" menu that alows children to be added and does some nice multiple glides, if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. thanks Dan _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. |
