Dead? Maybe I am in denial, but dead seems so... final. I think of it optimistically as a lul, perhaps the worst. Many seem to think it's dead. Maybe it is. A few might argue the point. In any case, I still have CVS access, and do submit bugfixes which don't appear to break anything. I have no access to the rest of the site, nor time to devote to learning the code and submitting new ideas. However, I think it is still preferable for some people to have an option other than shelling out money for expensive Flash design tools. A simple text editor, and a web browser are all you need for JavaScript. Therefore theoretically, DynAPI will not be dead until no browsers support JavaScript and DOM anymore. Such negative comments are not constructive and help noone, so please keep them to yourself. :-) DynAPI is still in use on quite a few large commercial sites and numerous smaller sites (don't take my word: use Google), so it is obviously still useful. JavaScript is still useful. I try to help where I can. If you've decided DynAPI or JavaScript is dead, then why not move on? Why still on the list? ;-) Leif ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Herlihy" <ga...@su...> To: <dyn...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 03:43 Subject: Re: [Dynapi-Help] please help me with the scroll speed of the horizontal scroll label > You are right..... you are in denial. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Leif W" <war...@us...> > To: <dyn...@li...> > Sent: Tuesday, September 07, 2004 11:52 PM > Subject: Re: [Dynapi-Help] please help me with the scroll speed of the > horizontal scroll label > > > > Dead? Sorry... I'm just sore because of a bug in dynapi using Mac Safari. Our client insists it works on all browsers and platforms. I'm on the list because It will take us several hundred hours to convert our dynapi application to flash and I'm hoping I will see a fix someday. Dynapi works awesome on the PC I wish we could keep using it. At the least, state which version of the DynAPI you are using, which browser and version, and a description of what you are trying to do, and preferably some examples of code that you have tried. If you are using the old DynAPI 2, would it be possible to switch to DynAPI 3? If you are starting a new project, then I'd suggest DynAPI 3. If you are modifying an existing project, I'd suggest staying with that, unless it's possible to rewrite all the JavaScript. Leif |

Ohh! Sorry to hear that. :-( What exactly is the problem you are experiencing and what have you tried to do to locate or fix the problem in the DynAPI? I'd test on a Mac, but I have no access to one. To see and fix the problem, a developer needs access to a Mac and the browser in question, either in person or over the net using something like VNC. Can you or do you know anyone who can provide such access over the network, with a VNC server on a Mac with OSX? There seems to be a project for VNC running on Mac OSX, and I remember mentioning this on this list before, but never got a response. Of course, the details of address, username and password should be transmitted off list. :-) http://sourceforge.net/projects/osxvnc/ Flash is indeed quite a powerful tool when used appropriately. Such a conversion from JS to Flash can be quite an undertaking. :-\ Leif ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Herlihy" <mi...@m2...> To: <dyn...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 11:33 Subject: Re: [Dynapi-Help] please help me with the scroll speed of the horizontal scroll label > Sorry... Good Idea ... I have a Mac available via VNS. If anybody wants to take a look I will send connection info. Its hosted on a T1 outside our firewall. The VNC client for windows can be downloaded here: http://www.realvnc.com/download.html THE PROBLEM: Mac Safari does not drag in some cases: http://66.80.162.29:8543/safari/testframe30.html http://www.dansteinman.com/dynapi/docs/examples/drag1.html At 09:07 AM 9/8/04, you wrote: >Ohh!
