Hello, As I said before we may help on web site, if this portion of project is going forward... it would be nice to form some sort of DynAPI "promotion" team for this task. I mean that there would be people in different roles so that project would be properly cordinated. A small web/design team could look like this: Project manager Consept designer Graphic designer Programmer(s) Content provider(s) How does this sound to DynAPI people? Any one interested of any of above posts in DynAPI website project? Also I would like to know something about "practical issues". Anotherwords, is there server space for new web site in source forge (what would be the directory?)? How is it accessed (ftp, username, login, url etc.)? What are the features of the server (PHP, CGi-BIN, PERL, JSP, ASP, formmail?)? ... and where is the sourcecode for current DynAPI site applications (In the CVS)? - Juho Risku / Helmi Staff http://www.visualway.com/helmi >From: Raymond Irving <xw...@ya...> >Reply-To: dyn...@li... >To: DynAPI-Dev <dyn...@li...>, DynApi-Help ><dyn...@li...> >Subject: [Dynapi-Dev] DynAPI website upgrade >Date: Wed, 30 Jul 2003 07:17:47 -0700 (PDT) > >Hello Everyone, > >In the near future we are hoping to have the DynAPI >upgraded to support new features and have a new look. > >If there's anyone who can help with graphics, >suggestions, documentation, etc we would like to hear >it. > > >Thanks, > >-- >Raymond Irving > > > > > > > >__________________________________ >Do you Yahoo!? >Yahoo! Hi, I'd like to help out (just returned from a mini-vacation). Not sure exactly what I could do, but maybe programmer for the website, as I am comfortable with PHP/Perl/Apache. I'm not familiar with phpwebsite or wiki. Whatever backend functionality is decided upon, I could help to implement I think. Probably I'd perform best with a clear outline of what needs to be done. We need to get this part of the project started as we're planning to have DynAPI 3.0 stable (or fully launched) by November. Are we in agreement here? -- Raymond Irving __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com |

The project website runs on a Linux box using apache, php, perl, cgi-bin access, etc. Its accessed through an ssh client using your sourceforge username assuming you have been added to the project. Uploading can be done through scp (or pscp using putty). As for the current website, its running an *old* version of phpwebsite and all of the data is stored in a mysql database. I tried upgrading but it can't since phpwebsite requires a very recent version of php and Sourceforge has not updated to it yet. As for the DocCenter, its using a wiki obviously. It would be better if we added a wiki with better security that integrated with the look and feel of the site. As for the future of the site, I really don't see the need to use PHPWebsite or PostNuke considering the DynAPI project doesn't need all of the features it provides. I think a good designed site backend would allow news posting, documentation, download management, etc to happen very easily. Rob |
