I just wanted to reiterate Pascal's earlier post. If you want to discuss widgets, please use the widget-dev list. If you want help with the dynapi, please use the dynapi-help list. Hi, Yup, that seems to have done it. Maybe a small detail : the popups flicker while you move your mouse over the buttons... can't you make their appearance more persistent ? Yeah, I had the same problem in IE5/5, especially if the toolbar is on the right or the bottom of the screen, you can't select the content of the menus, and if you try long enough the mouse starts selecting text, as though the mouse were down. Lets get the window manager debate out in the open, as I think there's a lot of half-finished work on that about. I had some ideas regarding z-indexing, which should also be handled by window-manager: * We could add a property to the dynLayer (or windowmanager) , so any dynlayer can call : var plane='backgroundLevel' //or firstLevel,or mySkinWindowContentLevel thisLayer.mustFocus(plane,'onmouseover') So layers activated by mustFocus(), on the same "plane" can be re-z-indexed when clicked, or moused over depending on argument passed. BTW the widget dev mailinglist also works, if people prefer we could move this over there. Hi, I'm continuing to develop a version of DynAPI that is used strictly like an API (real object oriented). I ran in to a weird thing with mouse events. I have added an event for on click and in it the line alert(e.getX()) and it returns -3 anywhere in the component if I do alert(e.getPageX()) it's always -1? what's wrong? |

Available here with a screenshot: http://fury161.dyndns.org/dyneditor/ This is merely the ground work for a visual DynAPI editor written in Java. You'll need JDK 1.2 or later to try it out. It doesn't yet output or input any code. All it does is draw rectangles (DynLayers). I'm releasing this to give anyone else that's interested in this DynAPI side-project a chance to see where I'm heading with it. So, if you know Java, try running it and see how I structured things, and if you want to contribute some code you more than welcome. Again, I'm no Java expert, but I can get by on the Java docs and trial and error :) I'm sure others on this list will be able to help improve this (limited) codebase. There are 2 areas in particular that I would target next: 1. Nested Layers. There is no parent/child structure, or higher level object above the DynLayer class (remember this is a Java class not JavaScript). And thus there is no way to draw/insert a child layer. So first steps would be to create a DynDocument java class, and get all X/Y locations relative to some other parent rather than everything from the origin. Second part would be visually how you draw or insert a child. There is a selection system, so if you select a layer and start drawing it should then be drawing a child of the selected layer (same goes for insert). 2. Input/Output. The hooks are already included to load a file, and save it. Just need to do the parsing/generating. 3. Add Label and Image support. It should be fairly easy, just extend DynLayer and do the appropriate draw(). You'd need some dialogs for setting the options, and editing text. I was looking through the Java tutorial, it will not be a problem to have wrapping text in the label. There is already a chooseImage() method to load up an image with a built in image previewer (from the Swing tutorial), though I didn't try it out in DynEditor yet. For a reference my JavaMapper program uses the same code for that part. I will be away all next week, with little or no access to email during this time(so don't expect any replies from me until at least the 22nd). If anyone wants to contribute some effort to DynEditor just email me (da...@da...) your new code. Later if it's deemed necessary we could create a new Sourceforge account for this. |

To keep things a bit more ordened, please use the correct mailing lists. this DEV list is for the developers/development.. this means ideas, bugs, etc.. there's a special HELP list for people who need help with something (even if your developing something but need help, then please use the HELP list) everybody seems to post all there questions to DEV aswell, but in that case we might just delete all other lists and only keep this one. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but when I drag and drop layers in the page below - after 4 or 5, IE will start to highlight entire words on top of the divs, and every-so-often, the div will stick to the mouse cursor, and I can drag the div without holding any mouse buttons down. How do I get it to NOT highlight the words on top of the divs? Details: Using the example dynapi.api.mouseevents.htm try adding an image
to myLayer using the .setHTML command; it will break in Mac IE5. All of
the mouseEvents still work in mac nav 4.x, but none of them work in IE5 and
there are no fatal scripting errors generated or reported.
I tested using just text in the .setHTML command and the problem
disappeared - definately an image-related situation.
Here is the line I added:

Comment:
Problem might be because of the event code and image tags.
This should be fixed once Jordi wins his war with the event code.

I noticed that this bug also occurs when an image is added to any layer.
It causes all mouse events to disappear for everything.
