Hi All, Is there a generic sys interface to get and set various (devices) clock frequencies of the system in the 2.6.23 distribution. Following is a more detaild description of my question : There is /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq directory which has files that can be used to set processor frequency when cpufreq is enabled. So lets say I have an i2c device, and I want to change the i2c clock frequency. Is there a generic framework where in all clocks for the system are present in one place, so that I can do a get/set on the clock frequencies. I tried searching in /sys/devices but didn't find anything. It will be good if there is something like /sys/devices/system/clocks/<names_of_clocks> Thanks Saringni. |

Hi Avinash, Can you please point me to the code area in 2.6.23.9 kernel tree where the operating points are present. I was able to find the governors, but was not able to get to the place where operating points are present. The policy manager you are referring to is setting up a policy from userspace right. Thanks Saringni. I don't know the current state of previous DPM-spin-off community efforts such as "operating points" or the follow-on refinements of interfaces for directly managing sets of arbitrary platform power parameters. The https://lists.linux-foundation.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-pm list is used to discuss such things with general PM folks. Last I was involved with it, there was a distaste among certain segments of the PM community for the interfaces proposed to manage power for embedded systems (they didn't have much of a problem with the ludicrously ugly interfaces for ACPI, but that's life as an embedded Linux developer). There was, however, solid support for some ideas from a few influential developers. The DPM project is kept alive to answer the occasional question and to preserve it in case there's an interest in using this place to move embedded PM forward somehow. -- Todd |
