    Hello
I'm trying to start the game Sacked - Your last day (in Polish it is called Zemsta Urzędasa) but I come across a problem. Despite choosing the game and choosing the Run option, nothing happens, and when I select the "Try ..." option in the DxWnd settings, the message "CreateProcess ERROR 193" appears. I checked the meaning of this error and apparently it means
that "The selected application is not a valid Win32 application" (or something like that). This is strange because I can start the game normally without this program, but I can only play in full screen (less pain), and after minimizing this game with the Alt + Tab combination and maximizing the graphics in the game is destroyed (more pain).
DxWnd, despite the log creation option configured, does not create any logs
    Can anything be done?

      There's a possibility that the file is not a Win32 executable, maybe it's a Win64?
Telling the file type seems a not trivial task, so that I spent some time to add a check to DxWnd. Using the attached executable now the interface will tell something about the file nature.

Uhmm... if the game is the one that produced this movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBzivF2nxgc it seems unlikely that it could be a Win64 game.
If you want me to try doing more, maybe you could PM me some instructions about how to get this game.

Right now I don't know if this is a problem with the game or with DxWnd because I have the same with the games Wacki: Kosmiczna Rozgrywka and Neighbours from Hell

      ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT
          193 (0xC1)
          %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

This is quite strange! Could it be the antivirus playing some tricks?

I don't have any antivirus except Windows Defender

Could you share your configuration? For instance, post here the dxwnd.ini file. The Path fiels must point to a valid Win32 executable, maybe you picked a link, shortcut or whatever that can run the game but IS NOT a Win32 executable.
    There's a fixed DxWnd,exe here https://sourceforge.net/p/dxwnd/discussion/general/thread/368ae3713b/#8475/609d

The configuration file in exepath should have only the path to the folder entered? Because although in the "Path" field I provide the path to the exe file, I write it in the configuration file

You are not supposed to edit the dxwnd.ini file.
Better start again in a clean way:
      1) delete (or move away) the dxwnd.ini file
      2) run dxwnd.exe - you'll see a clean white window
      3) open the game folder ( F:\Program Files\Sacked\ ) with explorer, locate the game executable and drag & drop that file over the DxWnd window
      4) after the game add window opens, just click the OK button. This will add the Sacked game to the configuration with default options. If you downloaded the new release v2.05.25 (uploaded a few minutes ago) you'll be warned about the possibility that the game exe could be a Win64 executable that can't work in DxWnd.
      5) Double-click on the game icon on DxWnd, If the configuration is ok the game will start windowized in a 800x600 bordered window.
      6) If you want anything different, please read the help pages (Help -> View help menu command) and learn how to.

Thanks for the answer. I checked other wrappers and something strange came out. Namely, from wrappers the only thing that works in my system at all is the 3d-analyzer and ddraw fps fix for Windows 8.1. DxWnd, D3DWindower, and even dgvoodoo2 do not work even though they worked before (dgvoodoo was still working today, then it suddenly stopped and despite pasting the DLL-
from it to the folder of any game, this one when started behaves as if I had never used dgvoodoo). Strange thing. As if the system was blocking something at home but I don't know what

Try unplugging the pc from the net, turn Windows Defender off for just a little while and see what happens, then restart Windows Defender and plug the net. Maybe it is just a little too prudent?

    The game has multiple titles
    °°°°https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/gefeuert-dein-letzter-tag
Here you can download the German demo version.
Works well with default settings in DxWnd here on Win7.
Described problems they look more like a corrupted file system (or disk) or virus.

I also had the game on a different disk so I checked and it worked. So my disk does some action, it's hard. Now the situation looks like this:
The game starts, but the full screen game window is as if trimmed. I tried to play with the size of the window but the problem is still there. I send the screen as it looks (note the gray frame at the top)
    I have a Windows 8.1

I finally managed to download a demo (the second demo, file GefuertDemo2003.zip, probably the first one was not addictive enough!) and made the game running.
    First things to say:
    1) I don't know how crazy must be a development team to build a game based on the idea of pissing here and there (at least, so it seems)
    2) the game is completely unaware of the possibility of being run in a window: it doesn't react to any atandard window message like close, minimize, move, resize etc.
    3) the gray border is simply a unrefreshed window border. If you alt-tab in and out the dull gray color will become a regular window border (see screenshot) but nothing will react.
    4) The input is made through dinput, probably in some weird way. As a matter of fact, you can point & click the mouse everywhere but it is impossible to enter a game level,

So, being stuck at the main menu, I will give further news later. The game is such a trash that it will be surely funnier to fix it than to play it.

P.s. @MrPepka: if you want to be sure we can work on the final target (that could hVE different problems than the demo) maybe you could consider to PM me some suggestion about how to get the full game....

This is probably the rating of this game. 1/10 means that the game is very bad. Is that so? Matter of taste

    @gho
Here on Win7 it works normally with DxWnd.
Walking works with the right mouse button...

    Update:
I confirm that GefeuertDemo2003.zip behaves differently in the window mode than the first demo (as described). Still, but I can play this demo.

Here on Win10 the 2003 demo is completely stuck in the (animated) main menu. The game is perfectly alive, but it doesn't respond to my mouse clicks.
Well, it's late (gettin out with wife), I'll try again tomorrow...

Sorry, I can't find any trace of a message of yours in my mailbox.
Maybe something with SF went wrong, who knows? Could you resend it?
I'm also sending a PM to you with my email address, you can use it as well.

The situation here is very puzzling. On Win10-64 (but is this the clue?) I can't control the game with the mouse unless unkooked and untouched. If I run the game in a window a strange effect is produced: as long as I don't touch the mouse, the cursor's arrow stays at the center of the screen, but whenever I move it even of the slightest move and no matter in which direction, then the arrow jumps backwads and to the right and gets out of the window.
The game seems to be controlled by DirectInput version 7, but if I hook dinput with DxWnd flag, the situation becomes even worse with the cursor that no longer shows on screen.
It looks as if anything DxWnd does to correct the mouse handling is wrong in this case. But does a similar thing happen to you? (both huh and MrPepka ?).

The behavior described did not happen on Win7 for me.
      I'll investigate.

I have now tried the game (GefeuertDemo2003.zip) on Win10 64bit with DxWnd in window mode with the default settings.
    No mouse problems.

I also have no problems with the mouse although I checked the full version of the game. The only problems I have are those with the window (gray frame at the top, as well as gray stripes on the sides)

Very strange. I'm not aware of any difference in mouse handling between Win7 and Win10.
Could you do me a favour?
Set your working configuration, then set "Hook dinput" and the log flags as in picure, then run the game only briefly in the main menu screen moving the mouse for a few seconds and quit (kill, Alt-F4 or whatever). I'd like to see what sort of data is read by directinput calls....
Just in case, post here both the logfile and the exported configuration.
