I could understand if they couldn't give out the docs because it would allow us to circumvent macrovision, but as far as I'm aware this driver doesn't even implement it, let alone bypass it. So if anything we could only enable macrovision with the driver (and there should be no licensing issues because we already own hardware that's had the license fee paid already.) As for CSS I thought it was the DVD player that handled that? I didn't think the DXR3 could do hardware CSS decrypting - so provided they didn't give us the complete source to DVDstation we should be okay there. Perhaps you could try for a subset of their documentation? e.g. the framebuffer specific stuff, or another area that's currently lacking in the driver? What about an NDA? I've heard that with other projects people have signed an NDA to get access to docs, which allowed them to actually write drivers and release the code, just providing they didn't distribute the docs themselves...
