Deadzone setting not applying in Project Cars

I'm not able to see the deadzone (actually anti-deadzone since I'm using negative values) apply in PCars. I've gone as low as -99 and there is no perceptable change in steering. What I'm trying to do is eliminate the 30 degree deadzone on my Microsoft Xbox 360 Force Feedback Wheel.

I'm not sure if the fact that I'm running pcars in 64-bit makes a difference. I HAVE put the two x64 dll files in that folder, as well as the regular dll files in the base install folder. I've also tested running DXAce from the x64 folder just in case we need the INI to write to that folder instead. It made no difference other than the fact that I couldn't get the test input functionality to work when runnign in the x64 folder (It said the DLL files were wrong or invalid).

First make sure that the utility is working. A beep should be played when launching the game. If you're unsure, enable the file log or the console - editor->menu->settings - and see if a log file is created or if the console is open. If it is then it's running fine, if not you might have the wrong dlls installed.

If it's only the deadzone you want to get rid of you just need the xinput1_3.dll. Make sure that "Disable xinput" is not checked in the editor before running the game.

I had a bug with negative deadzone in some version but it were corrected in recent ones. So, if you still can't get rid of it, edit the ini and change the debuglevel setting to =10 (for dinput) or 11 (for xinput) - also, disable file log if it's enabled as logging inputs can create lag -. Save it, run the editor and check the console. Run the game (preferably in windowed mode and a lower resolution than the desktop to monitor it) and see what you get for the target axis output, i.e. if the output is different from the input. Don't forget to enable filtering for the target axis too (editor->axes->filter-><target axis="">.

    Cheers

Will this make the Xbox 360 wireless wheel give force feedback on PC?

Not sure I understand what you mean but if your wheel have FFB it will have FFB for the API that the driver supports.

But... usually MS wheels (and alikes) don't have FFB for dinput, so if you force the game to use that API you will not have FFB as the MS driver doesn't have it implemented. For wheels that support FFB under dinput it will have FFB as the utility doesn't interfere with the FFB (unless it's disabled in the editor options).

For Project Cars (1&2) the reason to force it to use dinput is to get raw output as under xinput it's not possible to get a 1:1 input vs output. But if your objective is to only apply a negative deadzone then you don't need to force the game to use dinput and you only need the xinput dll.

Sorry for the late reply, dunno if u'll read it :p

The readme should explain what you have to do :p

Anyway, if it's a xbox wheel (?) try using the xinput dll as xbox controllers usually only support the xinput API. Depending on the game the name of the dll can vary, usually it's xinput1_3.dll but can vary.

In short, copy needed files to game folder (likely xinput*.dll, editor, ini) If the utility loads you should hear a beep when launching the game. Then while in game do an alt-tab, go to the editor and change the dz, save and back to the game to see if it's ok.
