I am new to DWSIM. I can make connections from material stream to objects
such as a pump but cannot find a way to make a connection to distillation
object. I would appreciate guidance on how to make this connection.

To edit the connections of a distillation column, use the button in the far right of the property in item "3. Connections", as shown in the attached screenshot. You can also open the editor by holding SHIFT while double-clicking on the column object in the flowsheet.
