For my understanding I have put side by side a rigourous distillation and a shortcut one, I have fed them the same information, but I can not get the rigourous one to work. could you let me know what I am doing wrong?
The goal for me is to simulate distillation columns for separating alkane hydrocarbons at a small flow rate. I am aiming for a design that utilizes minimal and compact columns. For the dimensioning of the condenser and reboiler, I've opted to use the "compound mass flow in product stream" feature, as it offers a clearer understanding of the separation efficiency from my perspective.
However, I'm encountering a few challenges:
The column operations are failing to converge after reaching the maximum number of iterations.
There's a problem calculating the compressibility factor under the specified conditions.
The system is unable to reach equilibrium, with temperature readings of NaN K.
These issues are somewhat perplexing to me, and I would greatly appreciate your insights on potential causes and solutions.
Enclosed is the updated flowsheet, which includes both a shortcut distillation column (serving as a preliminary guide) and the rigorous distillation column I'm working on. I have deactivated some of the other distilation columns since I am foccusing on understanding the first rigourous one names "demethaniser"

Your column specifications didn't make any sense, please double check your inputs and compare them with this fixed file.

Increase the reflux ratio. Look up the Gilliland Curve of Plates versus reflux ratio.
