I cant believe this program is open source. Amazing stuff really. Anyway, Ive just started exploring the program and run into an issue, I can not see plugins in the dropdown plugin tab. I downloaded and copied in the Natural Gas properties .dll file into the plugins folder (it was already there incidentally from the distribution i installed), but it does not show in the drop down. I restarted the program and my computer, no luck. I suspect it's my implementation rather than a bug since other posts regarding this plugin seem to not have this issue. Thank you in advance to anyone with insight on this.

Try reinstalling DWSIM, in order to have the most up-to-date DLL version in the plugins directory. I suspect that the plugin distributed separately isn't compatible with the latest DWSIM version.
Let me know if it works.

Daniel

thank you, but no change, plugins do not appear in the drop down tab. Am I correct that I'm supposed to invoke the plugin from the drop down or does the program use the plugin in an existing feature? I tried adding some random .dll files to the plugins folder but nothing shows up in the menu even after a reboot.

Delete the plugins folder and then reinstall DWSIM. There is no reason for these not showing up when you open a simulation... I suspect that the installer isn't overwriting your DLL because it is newer.
Also, make sure to install the latest build (5644).
Still no change. Latest build, fresh install, no dll plugins showing up in the drop down. Im on 64 bit windows 7 if that helps. The drop down does show the CAPE OPEN option.

find attached. is it possible to invoke the plugins from a commandline to check that it functional but not showing in the menu? I guess i could look that up, but I needed to say more than 'find attached'. I did not have antivirus blocking this program.
I figured it out. When I open the program from the shortcut in the windows start menu it does not show the plugins. When I open the program directly from the root folder icon it does show the plugins. Thats pretty weird but I can replicate the behavior. I don't really need to investigate that any further since I can get it to work now. Not sure if it's an issue with the installer, the program or my personal computer. Anyway, I've never seen that happen before. Thanks for your help,

I'm also using Win7 64-bit... can you take a screenshot of the contents of the plugin folder? Do you have any antivirus running?

attached plug in drop down.
Do you have Visual Studio 2013 installed? You could run DWSIM in debug mode and see exactly what's going on.
