Crash under Windows Vista while loading a replay
Sorry, but Vista is unsupported:
I (=esby) don't run it.
I don't plan on installing a bloating system on my computer.
The parser needs to link with various DLL, present or not on your sytem.
If the dll are present and detected, the parser might need to be launched with admin rights.
Some users reported to be able to use it under Vista with and without admin rights.
You might want to check your antivirus settings too.
Dw3gParser has been confirmed to work under:
Windows XP. Wine.
File Association
Problem description:
I want to associate w3g files with the parser.
Answer:
You need to create an association using the window explorer settings.
If the association stopped working (mainly because you moved the parser folder)
Use (menu->Paths->Associate w3g files with dW3gParser.)
Error in French
Problem description:
I am getting a weird error in french, something like "'Global' n'est pas une valeur entière correcte".
Answer:
Don't use the version from sourceforge, install the last svn revision build from http://esby.free.fr/
"CDROM/USB Path error"
Problem description:
The parser is complaining about some I:\ path error involving my usb/cdrom drive...
Answer:
Go in the ini folder of dW3gParser.
Edit dw3gParser.ini, search for the i:\ path, and replace it either by a valid path or by the w3x path.
See Next question for configuring the path via the interface.
My icons are gone?
Problem description:
The hero and skill icons are gone with the new version of dota?
Answer:
Do the following procedure:
enable logging by unclicking(Menu-->Edit->Disable Logs). Go in your dw3gparser map folder and delete the file corresponding to the 6.57b version. Run the parser once without opening a replay. Adjust the paths settings. (Menu-->Paths-->Search war3x path) This should points to where storm.dll, ijl115.dll and the mpq of the game are. If the search fails, you shoudl manually adjust the path by clicking on the current value. Save settings. Close parser. Open a replay. Open the replay again.
If you get a Form named 'dW3gParser Map Settings', that means the parser could not generate the xml for the map you are trying to load.
The possible causes are that Storm.dll and ijl115.dll could not be located and loaded.
Either because of antivirus or because wrong path selected.
Checking the log (Edit-->Show Log) will help you determine the cause.
Note:
When the new map is a minor fix (no new heroes, no new skills) you can usually clone the xml file from the previous version without much risk.
Some icons are being shown, some not
Problem description:
Some icons are not showing with the last version of the map.
Answer:
This is caused because a xml file corresponding to the new map version was generated without the paths being set. (See previous topic in Faq). You should go in your map folder, and delete the xml corresponding to the version you are trying to load. Once it is deleted, restart the parser, load the replay again, it should generated the xml correctly and the icons should be visible.
Translations
"I want to help in the translation process:"
Typo in an existing translation file.
Answer:
You can write a bug report locating the typo or the error and suggest a correction.
I Want to create a new translation for a new language
Answer:
There are two cases:
The language code already exist. (eg: CN) Edit the CN Files in ini\ressources Contact me with the modified CN files so I can update the translation. The language does not exist in the parser. (eg: NO ) Copy the EN files and rename them into No files. Contact me with the modified files, so I can add them. I'll need to recompile the parser to include the new language code.
