Trying to install gets error about missing X11 but I have it installed

I'm trying to install dvdrip on my SolydK system but ./configure stops with

checking for XvShmCreateImage in -lXv... no configure: error: libX11 is needed for libvo!

But I have libx11 installed, or at least I think I do, as the attatched screenshot of Synaptic shows.
What am I missing?
