#4 NTSC DVD shows artefacts and hangs every second

Hello,
I got two NTSC DVDs for xmas. I wanted to play them with my
vdr box which is connected to a tv set that is capable of
playing NTSC format. The intro runs to the menu without any
problems, but after starting the main movie it shows
artefacts the sound hangs and the picture hangs every
second or so. Every other DVD in PAL plays without any
problems. I know that I'm not the only one having this
problem playing NTSC DVDs.
