#8 New grouping

Hi,
not a bug per se, but I don't like the new grouping style in the latest DVD-A plugin. If a stereo_downmix version of a track exists, it's directly sorted after the multi-channel track, meaning that in a playlist, every track will effectively be played twice.

Actually, if there was a way to hide stereo_downmix tracks via a plug-in setting, that would be the best solution.

It's because tracks are sorted by "Track no". I can change numbering in a way when each track has distinct number. Hiding is not good because it will affect all playlists in one click.

I beg to differ and think that hiding is a good solution. The "stereo_downmix" tracks are not "real" tracks but something I would call a "slave tracks". They cannot be tagged separetely, only the multi-channel master tracks can be tagged and the slave tracks will automatically receive the same properties. I'd really love a feature that would hide those useless tracks.

Ok. But why useless? Some DVD-Audios are authored in the way they play these downmixed tracks.

Well, first of all, I have quite a few DVD-As that have dedicated 2-channel mixes as well as the forced stereo_downmix tracks, so the latter are redundant. And since we're talking about PC-based playback, all the forced downmixing that might be needed is done by Windows anyway, depending on how many output speakers are configured. That means, I will never need forced downmixes since they are actually the same tracks as the multi-channel tracks, only with the added inconvenience that they can't be tagged.

Real stereo tracks are a different thing, because often they are not merely downmixed but are completely different mixes altogether (although usually inferior to the multitrack mixes).

Sorry, this thread should actually be under "suggestions", not "bugs". Anyway, after a bit of testing, this option doesn't quite work the way I expected. The "stereo downmix" tracks are still scanned into the media library and are added when generating autoplaylists. Is there any way to prevent this and hide them from the media library somehow? (Same thing goes for hiding silent tracks, really).

What I did was
1. Delete the foobar music database, because tracks had previously been imported and there is no way known to to remove tracks from the library.
2. Let foobar rescan the DVD-A folder
3. Do a search through the library for "(stereo downmix)" - blam! - all tracks show up.

1. Actually, I do nothing to scan the disc into the library. I just leave foobar and delete the database. The folders which are monitored by the media library get rescanned automatically again.

2. Ok... I know what comes next. I will disable all additional plugins except the DVD-A one to see what results I get. Sigh.

I've tried disabling all other plugins and even switched off the user_profie to get a more or less virgin environment, but "stereo downmix" is still scanned into the library.

Thanks. But I can't reproduce this. When I check "Do not load stereo downmixes" and then do Library->Configure->Add and select DVD-Audio disc folder I don't see any downmixes loaded in library. Or, when I change files in library and it gets rescanned I don't see stereo downmixes too. Weird...
