Hey I was wondering if the making of a new dusk was under way. I used to play Darkstardusk, new dusk and Ataxia dusk. They were my all time favorite games growing up! |

Hey guys, this error comes up whenever they log on to my dusk. Error at run() with value 6:java.lang.ClassNotFountExeption: EquipmentFrame I doesn't come up for me, but it does for anyone else. Any help on how to fix it would be great. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? HotJobs - Search Thousands of New Jobs http://www.hotjobs.com |

Found it! Have you ever seen this error before? at Player.writePlayerFile(Player.java:line unknown, pc0x8a3b097) at Player.savePlayer(Player.java:line unknown, pc0x8aab08e) at DuskEngine.run(DuskEngine.java:line unknown, pc0x832b6ea) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:325) Do you know what that means or how to fix it? - Peter _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com |

OOops, we shoulda told the group. I carried on the conversation with André via private email but thanks for replying :-D You never know when I might ignore someone ;) BTW Tom, do you know of a solution to the user files problem.. I don't have a copy of the error anymore, I have a habit of deleting long emails, but it's something to do with them not being read in right. Maybe André can post it here again? - Peter >From: Thomas Weingarten <cap...@co...> >To: André Cameron <an...@ne...> >CC: dus...@li... >Subject: Re: [dusk-dev] Ahh HELP;) >Date: Wed, 07 Aug 2002 10:55:27 -0400 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from usw-sf-list2.sourceforge.net ([216.136.171.252]) by >mc1-f27.law16.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.4905); Wed, 7 Aug >2002 07:58:06 -0700 >Received: from usw-sf-list1-b.sourceforge.net ([10.3.1.13] >helo=usw-sf-list1.sourceforge.net)by usw-sf-list2.sourceforge.net with >esmtp (Exim 3.31-VA-mm2 #1 (Debian))id 17cSGC-0006AF-00; Wed, 07 Aug 2002 >07:58:04 -0700 >Received: from smtp.comcast.net ([24.153.64.2])by >usw-sf-list1.sourceforge.net with esmtp (Exim 3.31-VA-mm2 #1 (Debian))id >17cSFh-0006Y4-00for <dus...@li...>; Wed, 07 Aug 2002 >07:57:33 -0700 >Received: from [192.168.1.2] (pcp01721134pcs.union01.nj.comcast.net >[68.37.28.245]) by mtaout03.icomcast.net (iPlanet Messaging Server 5.1 >HotFix 0.8 (built May 13 2002)) with ESMTP id ><0H0...@mt...> for >dus...@li...; Wed, 07 Aug 2002 10:55:38 -0400 (EDT) >In-reply-to: <032c01c23bc9$e816aa60$6401a8c0@camcomsxzl1rkx> >Message-id: <102...@to...> >X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.0.8 >References: <032c01c23bc9$e816aa60$6401a8c0@camcomsxzl1rkx> >Sender: dus...@li... >Errors-To: dus...@li... >X-BeenThere: dus...@li... >X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.9-sf.net >Precedence: bulk >List-Help: ><mailto:dus...@li...?subject=help> >List-Post: <mailto:dus...@li...> >List-Subscribe: ><https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/duskrpg-devel>,<mailto:dus...@li...?subject=subscribe> >List-Id: Development on the Dusk RPG project. ><duskrpg-devel.lists.sourceforge.net> >List-Unsubscribe: ><https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/duskrpg-devel>,<mailto:dus...@li...?subject=unsubscribe> >List-Archive: <http://www.geocrawler.com/redir-sf.php3?list=duskrpg-devel> >Return-Path: dus...@li... >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 07 Aug 2002 14:58:06.0609 (UTC) >FILETIME=[D65E0010:01C23E22] > >you have to run it as: "java DuskServer" >if you put in the ".class" it screws things up, hope that helps! > >,Tom > >On Sun, 2002-08-04 at 11:16, André Cameron wrote: > > Anyone ever get this thing to run on a linux box? Dusk.wesowin.org is back up, hooray! Hopefully that will be the last of our significant downtime. All features should currently be restored in full operation, but if you discover and flaws please let me know asap. Happy Mudding! ,Tom (Also, if you're recieving this under dusk-dev and have not yet switched to the sourceforge mailing list or want to become a registered project member, send me a private email, thanks!) |

This is a resend of my original post. I had to do a substitute of ampersand lt semi-colon for less than and ampersand gt semi-colon for greater than. That should allow it to go through. This is my version of the function "isValidName" for LivingThing.java. "conf/dirtyWordFile" allows for real time blocking of offensive patterns in character names. The version in 2.7.3 restricts the players name to only letters. I think this would eliminate a large portion of the current new dusk population. I see nothing wrong with names like "death_god" and "]V[agic". But I do agree that names like "_______" and "00043212" are fairly unwanted. The strValid variable below can be adjusted to contain whatever characters are allowed (remove the numbers if so desired), and the "conf/dirtyWordFile" can include patterns like "__" (a double underscore to force a single underscore between other valid chars) My version also puts a value in prefs to limit the length of player names. boolean isValidName(String strName) { if (strName == null) return false; if (strName.equals("") || strName.length() > namecap || (strName.toLowerCase().equals("god") || (strName.toLowerCase().equals("default"))) return false; String strValid = "0123456789_]['#"; char[] letters = strName.toCharArray(); char[] validChars = strValid.toCharArray(); for(int n=0;n < letters.length;n++) { if (!Character.isLetter(letters[n])) { for(int i=0;i < validChars.length;i++) { if (letters[n] != validChars[i]) return false; } } } RandomAccessFile rafFile = null; try { String strDirtyWord; String strLowerCaseName = strName.toLowerCase(); rafFile = new RandomAccessFile("conf/dirtyWordFile","r"); strDirtyWord = rafFile.readLine(); while (strDirtyWord != null) { if (strLowerCaseName.indexOf(strDirtyWord) != -1) { rafFile.close(); return false; } strDirtyWord = rafFile.readLine(); } rafFile.close(); }catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(strName + " had an error checking for bad name in isBadName():"+e.toString()); return false; } return true; } __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It looks like I cannot send source code to this list either as it appears to be doing a very dumb form of html stripping. Everything following a less than character is being deleted, presumably while looking for a greater than character. The following few lines will be a test to see if just how/what it strips. <this should be gone>test</this should be gone> $lt;test> <<test>>test<</test>> __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Greetings all, I have merged in my bug fixes and updates into Script.java from the 2.7.3 source distribution. This also required a one line addition to VariableSet.java. Both files are attached.
