When a pdf file is viewed in Adobe Reader (Acroread) and printed to file as PostScript, lp (cups-bsd package) will accept the resulting file for printing, but will output nothing. This only occurs when lp is called with options like -o page-set=even.

This appears to be a relatively recent bug in CUPS or in one of the systems it calls. It is not a bug in duplex.

Since all duplex scripts use this option, they will fail to print these files. This does not affect the printing of other files (if any) in the same batch and does not generate any error conditions.

If the original pdf file is passed directly to the duplex scripts, it will be printed correctly.

Apparently Adobe support for acroread for Linux was dropped in 2013. So, just don't use it. ;)

There are plenty of good alternatives such as Ocular and xpdf.

    Closed this bug.
