Additionally, when verifying a backup where I don't have permission to read 
all files on the target filesystem, a permission error on a file stops with 
an offer to abort and dump core, but a permission error on a directory 
keeps going. I don't have a strong preference either way, but it seems like 
these two situations should have a consistent effect.
