The initial backup/verify used 0.4b38-ea (with EA/ACL patch). This is the 
restore that gives the error. I then checked the resulting dump file with 
restore from 0.4b37 and it performs the comparison properly. So I don't 
think there's a problem with dump. It's something in restore that seems to 
be ignoring the -C flag.

I normally run backup-smb-full from a weekly crontab entry.
