Good question :)

To be honest, when I started maintaining dump, I found the dump makefiles 
very confusing so I didn't change anything inside (as long as it worked)...

Looking at the makefiles I found that all the configure standard paths
seems to be ignored (such as --sbindir or --mandir).

Maybe the right way to do that is to review all the configure/MCONFIG/Makefile
stuff and make something that really works...

If you're interested, I'd be happy to get your contribution. Or maybe
someone else wants to have a sleepless night? :)
