Hi Bart, I don't know exactly how DSpatial comes into the picture, but I doubt if it would be useful. Mapserver itself is a front-end application, so if you want to integrate DSpatial with it, the latter would be a backend data provider, much like for instance PostGIS. However, most (all?) data formats supported by DSpatial are also available through GDAL, which is already integrated with Mapserver. I am, however, interested in the possibility, although you would be on your own mostly as I do not have a lot of time to devote to this. What would potentially be possible and interesting is having Mapserver initiate and handle requests to *process* data, rather than simply visualize it. I do not know if this possible at all, but it would be worthwhile investigating it. Let me know what you intend to do, if anything at all, and I'll see where I can be of help. Groeten, Patrick Lead developer "Bart van den Eijnden" <BE...@Sy...> wrote in message news:s2e...@sy...... Hi list, we are currently looking into the possibility of turning UMN Mapserver (http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu) into a C dll accessible with a Delphi interface. Could DSpatial be used/extended as a front-end for this? I can think this is problematic because most of the stuff DSpatial does is then managed by Mapserver internals (visualize, symbology, reading data, query, project data etc). I would love to hear some ideas though how this could be integrated. I did see PROJ.4 integration is on the DSpatial wish list, maybe this could open up some possiblities. Hope to hear from you guys. Hi Xiang, You should first install the components in the Delphi IDE. You can do this by creating a new package and loading the DSpHistogram and DSpViewer in it. Install the package (you will get a DSpatial tab in the component list) and the demo should work. The DSpOStretch unit is still under development and it should not have ended up in the demo. You should remove all references (methods, unit declaration, etc) to it and then the demo should compile fine. Good luck, Patrick Lead developer "He Xiang" <hep...@ya...> wrote in message news:200...@we...... i have download the v0.3 source code and used in delphi6 when i opened the project nemed DEMviewer the IDE show a error Reading form " Class TDspViewer not found ",and i also not found the DSpOStretch.dcu why ?? i am very interest to try the demo program. thanks he xiang 2005-07-19 ___________________________________________________________ ÑÅ»¢Ãâ·ÑGÓÊÏä£No.1µÄ·À¶¾·ÀÀ¬»ø³¬´óÓÊÏä http://cn.mail.yahoo.com/?id=77072 ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM. Hello DSpatial developers, =20 Version 0.3.3 of the DSpatial kernel was released on Sourceforge = yesterday, together with release 0.3.2 of the gridmath module. The kernel has a few = new features, most notably a pixel access method, and a number of bug fixes = and speed enhancements. The gridmath module has new features in the shape of windowed statistical functions and windowed filter functions. The new = filter functions let you apply operations such as noise reduction on satellite imagery, or edge detection, to name a few. A library of filters will be developed in the not too distant future. If you know of any particularly useful filters, please email them to the developers. =20 Documentation of DSpatial and the modules are slowly shaping up. Most of that documentation is available on the DSpatial home page. =20 As indicated before, the main development thrust for the kernel is = currently on the support for coordinate system conversions. When finished, this = will be released as version 0.4.0. Hopefully before long. =20 The next gridmath module release will see mathematical operations = involving multiple raster bands. =20 Also, a new demo will be developed, which will include new GUI elements. =20 Thanks, DSpatial development team =20 =20 --=20 No virus found in this outgoing message. Hello DSpatial developers, After a long, hard slog, version 0.3.2 of the DSpatial kernel was released on Sourceforge today. While minor in versioning, there are some dramatic improvements and extensions to the kernel. These changes made an update of other downloads necessary as well, so the HDF driver and the gridmath module also have a new release available. In addition, there is a new module, terra, with four operations to derive surface-related parameters from Digital Elevation Models. Everyone is advised to start using these new releases and discard older code. Documentation of DSpatial and the associated modules are *still* sorely lacking. Especially needed right now are detailed documents on programming with the DSpatial kernel and the extension modules, and on how to develop additional raster drivers. Since nobody stepped forward to take on this task, the main developer will now lay creative development to a temporary rest and focus on documenting what is there already. Which is not to say that all is lost, because with the new DSpModuleBase facilities writing new analytical procedures is a snap. If you think you have a fantastic algorithm waiting to be included in DSpatial you should take a look at the DSpTSurface unit to see how things might be organized. Have fun. Thanks, DSpatial development team |

The problem arises when there is a float value *exactly* equal to FMax. In that case the statement: Inc(FHisto[Floor((dp^ - FMin) * scale)]); tries to update FHisto[Length(FHisto)], which obviously does not exist. The problem is that the math dictates that FMax will fall outside of the range, i.e. [FMin, FMax>, which is not very elegant. The solution would be to add a test to see if the data value equals FMax (i.e. if dp^ = FMax then Inc(FHisto [FBins-1]) else ...), but this adds to the processing time. Alternatively (what I typically do), pass a max value to the constructor that is slightly larger than the maximum value (i.e. multiply by 1.0000000000001). Cheers, Patrick |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi Arioch, > > Will You update CVS ? > The problem with the CVS had something to do with the synchronization between the remote and the local repository, which in turn was caused by an authentication problem at SF. This has now been solved and the CVS is up to date. Cheers, Patrick |

Hello DSpatial developers, Version 0.3.1 of the DSpatial kernel was released on Sourceforge today. This is a maintenance release with no new features, but a truckload of bug fixes. Most of these bugs came to light during the development of release 0.1.2 of the gridmath module, also newly available today. The new gridmath module release 0.1.2 contains a new unit that implements a fairly extensive array of mathematical functions that operate on a single raster band. These functions include simple arithmetic, trigonometry, power and logarithms, and a few support functions. With this module it is now for the first time possible to manipulate raster data with DSpatial! Attention is now shifting back to the kernel where a so-called filtered data access object is being developed. This filter maintains a defined region of a raster band and it supports notions such as current pixel and relative pixel addressing. This filter access will greatly reduce the complexity of analysis functions that operate on multiple raster bands, or local functions on a single raster band such as those to be included in the terra and orbit modules. Documentation of DSpatial and the gridmath module are still sorely lacking. Especially needed right now are detailed documents on programming with the DSpatial kernel and the extension modules, and on how to develop additional raster drivers. A volunteer who could take this task on would be greatly appreciated. A DSpatial news group has just been added on news.gmane.org. The news group gmane.comp.gis.dspatial.devel is a news mirror of the mailing list on SourceForge. The news group has been added to lower the effort to discuss DSpatial issues, using your news reader of choice. More news groups will be added on GMane when the need arises. Thanks, DSpatial development team |
