Dear all, I wonder if DSOL-1.6.6 does dynamic classpath parsing? For example, when I open an experiment file which points to a jar file somewhere on a webserver, then this jar file should be dynamically added to the classpath. Greetings, Roy |

Dear Fransisco, memory leaks are notoriously hard to identify. What usually works for me is to use an object scanner, which identifies the number and types of active objects. A free one is available at http://jb2works.com/refscan/start.html >From my experience, these bugs are often due to: - unremoved event listener connections - unexpected connections via GUI objects (e.g. via 'Action' objects in the menu, or non garbage collected windows) Hope this helps. Hai, Sorry for the previous incomplete description. I have problem regarding my simulation model in DSOL. I found that not all codes (line of codes) in a certain method is executed. What would be the cause to this problem and what would be the solution. I have check the logging and there is no error or warning. The problem description is as follows: The method conductRegularTask() in the class Guard invokes method scheduleMoveToNextLocation(). Method scheduleMoveToNextLocation() is successfully invoked and execute first line of codes in the method. Unfortunately, it is not executed all the codes in scheduleMoveToNextLocation() including the creation of SimEvent. public class Guard (){ attributes are here .. private void conductRegularTask(){ codes are here .... .... this.scheduleMoveToNextLocation() } private void scheduleMoveToNextLocation(){ lines code that executed ..... ..... Hi Everybody, On DSOL 2.0: - The ExperimentParser reads the experiments for each ExperimentalFrame and initialize a new SimulatorInterface depending on the class defined on the xml file. One simulator per each experiment. - Afterwards, DSOLApplicationon.setExperimentalFrame method changes the simulator for all the experiments and setup a new Animator (the same for all experiments). Therefore this method detroys the structure that was created by the ExperimentParser (one experiment one user-defined Simulator). Does anybody know why this is done in this way? Francisco |

Hi Francisco,=20 I am also running experiments with more replications and had similar problem. But I notice that it happens only when the statistics have the same name for all replications. For example, if you include the replication.getDescription() in the statistics name, the name will be different for all replications and it keeps all previous replication data. When a new replication starts, the statistics are overwritten if the name is the same. This is a way to solve this problem by now, but guess something else should be changed.=20 Kind regards, Elisangela M. Kanacilo -----Original Message----- From: dso...@li... Hi Everybody... When Experiment is notified of an END_OF_REPLICATION_EVENT, it calls - simulator.initialize(...) and - simulator.start() After the last call a newreplication is started, therefore any other object listening for the END_OF_REPLICATION_EVENT, that is located after Experiment in the Simulator listeners list, will not be notified. Therefore shouldn't Experiment be always in the LAST_POSITION of the listeners list for END_OF_REPLICATION_EVENT of Simulator? With this structure for starting new replications (i.e. is the experiment who starts the new replication as a result from a notify call from the simulator) a nested sequence of Simulator stop()-start()-run(); stop()-start()-run(); etc. And therefore the first replication is not completed until actually the last replication is ended (because the first END_OF_REPLICATION_EVENT is not completed). Hi Everyone, I am starting to use DSOL 2.0. How can an object of the model I developed get a reference to the current ExperimentalFrame? I know that DSOLApplicationInterface provides a method, but then how can I get a reference to the DSOLApplicationInterface since my model only knows the simulator (SimulatorInterface)? Thank you, Francisco |

Dear Francisco, Probably sourceforge is in the middle of some maintenance, since we're not able to connect as well as an anonymous user. Therefore I would suggest to give it another day. If any attempt isn't fruitful after that, we'll have to contact sourceforge. Kind regards, Stijn-Pieter. Hello, I'm working on a RCP GUI for our own DSOL-simulation project, as replacement of the standard DSOL GUI. I figured out how the loggers are working, but I don't see how to get the animation working. In all the DSOL-classes concerning the animation there is a reference to the DSOLApplication and the DSOLApplicationInterface. But since I'm running a custom launcher I don't have any DSOLApplication to refer to. Is there somebody who came across the same problem and knows how to deal with it? Hi, I am developing a model that needs dsol-gui project. In the (maven) dependencies section of project.xml I tried <dependency> <groupId>dsol</groupId> <artifactId>dsol-gui</artifactId> <version>1.6.5</version> <type>jar</type> <url>http://www.simulation.tudelft.nl/dsol/dsol-gui</url> <properties> <jar.manifest.classpath>true</jar.manifest.classpath> </properties> </dependency> but it didn't work. Does anybody have an idea how to get this dependency? Furthermore, how can I know which versions of dsol dependencies are available from a repository? Thank you, Francisco |

Hi, I am doing animated simulation with DSOL. I need to use images that have to be scaled from its original size to a user defined scale (a parameter). I created a class ScalableSingleImagRenderable that inherits from SingleImagRenderable and overrides its method Paint() for the one that I typed at the end, but it doesn't work because for some scales (such as 0.04)I don't see the images or the displayed image change when I move the Pan. I also tried java.awt.Image originalImage = myImage.getImages()[0].getImage(); java.awt.Image scaledImage = originalImage.getScaledInstance(2,1,java.awt.Image.SCALE_DEFAULT); myImage.getImages()[0].setImage(scaledImage); but it didn't work either. Any suggestions? Francisco public void paint(final Graphics2D graphics, final ImageObserver observer) throws RemoteException { int image = this.selectImage(); double scale = 0.001*imageScale, invScale = 1000/imageScale; if (this.imageIcons[image].getImageLoadStatus() != MediaTracker.COMPLETE) { return; } Dimension size = BoundsUtil.getIntersect(this.source.getLocation(), this.source.getBounds(), this.source.getLocation().z) .getBounds().getSize(); Point2D origin = this.resolveOrigin(this.orientation, size); graphics.translate(origin.getX(), origin.getY()); graphics.scale(scale, scale); graphics.drawImage(this.imageIcons[image].getImage(), 0, 0, (int) (1000 * size.getWidth()), (int) (1000 * size.getHeight()), observer); graphics.scale(invScale, invScale); graphics.translate(-origin.getX(), -origin.getY()); } |

Hi, after having mastered the DSOL tutorial, I plan to set up a project = using DSOL for emulation of a conveying system. In general, the emulated = system should report the state of different moving objects to the real = control system via UDP (about 20-50 messages per second). The controller = itself sends commands to the model. The model has to take care of = computing the states of the moving objects. What I'm searching for is a suggestion on how a framework in DSOL could = look like for this application, especially for the timing problems. I = found a Real-Time-Clock class of which I assume that it's not blocked = by other threads, but I don't know how to use it.=20 If you have any ideas about an appropriate framework, please spend a = minute to reply... Thanks, Lars |

Hi, Images in the animation panel usually extend Renderable2D (in the dsol project). You should overwrite the abstract paint method in this class to draw an image on the animation panel. The only argument of this method is a Graphics2D - object, which you can use to draw a line: graphics.drawLine(x1,y1,x2,y2) The coordinates are in world coordinates relative to the object's location which is represented by the renderable (see the constructor of Renderable2D). The coordinates are automatically scaled by the Renderable2D before the line is drawn on the animation panel. See the javadoc of Graphics2D to find out more about drawing images in Java2D (just Google for Graphics2D). Hi, Can you tell me how to draw a line in the Animation Panel? The line should represent a Vector of Directed points. How can I change the size of an image to scale it according to reality size? Thank you, Francisco |

Dear Fransisco, Question 1: Do not use an Animator as the simulator, but "just" a DEVSSimulator. The GUI, by default, uses an Animator. I use the ExperimentRunner (code here below) to run my experiments from the = command line/in a console. Subject: [Dsol-java] Non Anmated simulation Hi Everybody, I am running a very simple simulation that schedules a single event at = time 10. When I run the simulation it uses time steps of 0.1 units to get to = time 10. No more events are scheduled, but the simulator keeps rumnning until = the StoppingTime. My questions are: - Since running a simulation by 0.1 unit time steps is very slow to run = when multiple replications are neded and no animation is required, how can I avoid this 0.1 Time Step, so the simulation time just jumps from one scheduled simulation event to the next one? -How can I make the simulator stop when there are no more scheduled = events (I mean schduled by my model not animation events)?
