A few ideas:

Okay, here's a few things I've been putting some thought into for a while.

First, a splatterpunk mod would be immensely well-suited to the DS engine.  I'll give a quick run-through on the splatterpunk concept for those of you unfamiliar with it:

    1) Set in the near future: Tech is recognizable, but quite a bit evolved.  Weaponry and computers, especially, are quite a bit farther forward, with exotic weapons being the norm (more on that later).
    2) It should be set right on the brink of the collapse of civilization.  Government/corporations should hold enough control to make cities and organized society viable, but the criminal element will be huge enough that the streets are most definitely not safe, and urban decay will be unimaginably high.
    3) The story in splatterpunk usually resolves around a small, highly motivated group investigating/trying to disrupt a corporation or goverment for reasons various and sundry.
    4) The gameplay is simply over the top.  As I said, exotic weapons should be the norm.  Never use a knife when you can use a vibroblade, or even better, a chainsaw.  Likewise, never use a handgun when you can use a LAW rocket.  The decay of urban areas should lead to a good amount of debris, meaning that melee weapons will be viable, as most encounters will be in close quarters (When poking around in rubble or abandoned buildings, line of sight shouldn't exceed a few meters).
    5) The violence should be over the top.  This is the essence of splatterpunk, and what sets it apart from cyberpunk.  There should be some point at which the PCs have to set aside all notions of stealth, investigation, or plot, and simply decide that the only resolution is to grab the biggest weapons in town and go straight through the doors guns blazing.

Why do I think this would work?  Well, for one, cyberpunk hasn't been done well in ages.  We all remember the Fallout series; I'm thinking in that vein, but more action-oriented.

So, any response?  Good/bad/maybe?  I've seen a few future-type mods planned, but to my knowledge, nobody's working on any type of similar campaign at this point.

And, as always, this idea is in its infancy.  It's open to all suggestions, changes, and questions.

Splatter would work with DS.  This type of action/explosions is not currently my thing, though.   Maybe a little too close to reality???
