Hey all. Im new here. At the moment i dont have any plans of doing a PvP mod, but its something i definetly want to see, and if i see any one else starting one i will be the first in line.
What i wanted to start the thread about was about some PvP ideas you guys had for DS or any.
PvP now in DS is lame. Its exilirating, gets your blood going, but isn't anything great. BUT i am very happy the dev team allowed PVP cus it makes it easier for great PvP mods to arise.
Anything from a 4vs4 Siege the castle, to a race to kill/defend the dragon.
Im also just trying to see if anyone else is even thinking about a mod like this?
I think something like this could be a REALLY huge mod, because as sad as it might be, we all know most gamers out there love to be able to kill each other.

I think PVP is one of the real interesting avenues of modding DS. Some of us have been considering the possibilities of this for a while. So yes, I agree.
What would you do? Why would the mod be so huge?

I haven't tried PvP in the game except just to see what it was about. I'm interested in seeing more 'race' style PvP (like the ones you mentioned) vs. stand there and hack at eachother. Nox did an ok job at PvP combat like this... but I don't think it caught on very well. Hopefully, someone will propose a good PvP mod worthy of adding to the project list. :)

Im really not sure what i would do. Id like to see an attack/defend mod. I wish there was some way to ease the stress on computers and bring the max players up to 16. Then an attack/defend, or Siege mod, would be much better then 4vs4.
I think a good start would be a simple " Capture the Torch"
About 6 lvls to start off. Typical capture the torch rules. One store besides each times base.
Penalty for death should be about 4 minutes. THiis would encourage team play. Also have a ressurect shrine in enemies base, but you can only use the shrine in YOUR base to come back.
Otherwise ppl would just storm enemy base, keep dying and being ressurected.
FOr lvls, you could do a Volcano lvl. A lot of earth spans, for face off battles. One outside one, one Castle one.
I think even a simple mod like this would add a LOT to the PvP aspect of DS. Ppl want to compete. Just standing there, hacking and slashing is too boring and redundant.

Level based PVP is interesting. How about having it be a campaign-style one? Where you play for 10 minutes on a level, and the "winner" of that level gets to take his team to the next level, and the loser has to play the opposition?
The winner would try to complete his campaign, and who was the winner might bounce back and forth several times during the game. You'd really want to try to win the volcano level, for instance, because you didnt want to be the goblins in the next level.
