I like it! Just a few comments though...
maybe just a touch lighter on the wood. I also have a graphic that might serve well for the header graphic. I'll email it to you. Also, pick some text colors for the body that you think would work (and hyperlink colors - visited and non-visited). Thanks.

You and Jasp can work through the details of the site. I was just giving some input. When you are ready to put it into CVS and onto the web, let me know. I'll help you.
Also, Jasp... time to get your content (spell schools and spell lists) to Joe. You guys will need to organize the SpellForge site so that other schools can be added to it as well.
Let me know if you guys need any help with anything! I'm really excited to see that come together.

I'm working on modified lists for Circus Magic and the Voodoo school. I should get these to Joe in the next couple of days (hopefully tomorrow, actually).
On cvs, I'm still bemused by it and actually I'm stymied by two things:
1) Access at home is now down as I have moved and I haven't approached the new landlady re possible access.
2) Access at work (via cvs) may be difficult as the buggers have just installed Windoze2000. *sigh* The UNIX box I work on is an internal DB server and does not have a link to the outside world.
However, the work will continue. I am now eagerly awaiting DS simply to get a look at the spells that come with it.

Wellll, there's the small matter of not getting my hands on DS till April 19 (that /seems/ to be the UK date before people start hyperventilating). Makes it a bit hard to start spellcrafting... ;-]
The website is looking very good. I well probably heavily revise the existing spell lists when I get an indepth look at DS spell design and implementation so I'm unsure about the site going live.
What do others interested in SpellForge think?

I will do the final cleanup to the web site and add anything that is requested here in the next few days before I zip it up and send it to you Charles. Like I always say, we can always change things when we get that darn CD. 8^)

I've sent you the existing spell lists as per Charles' suggestion. They are highly, highly provisional. But I'm not that worried (and I'm certainly not worried about the ideas being used by others) - more the merrier.
I'm just waiting for the 19th now...

Those Circus MAgic spells are great. I see right away how many of them can be done in the game. Ringmaster is especially cool, and possible in the game.
Making the spells different levels will keep the powerful ones away from the novice mages, but you may want to consider scaling the power levels some more, so lower level mages can use lower power versions of some of the spells.
You may be thinking the same about the items, that having a "medieval circus" look to the items would be cool. Like modern circus items, only back then styling. Like GPG did their "robots".

I have zero experience at modelling so I'm hoping you and others in the guild will help out. In turn, as I intend to specialise in the coding of spells I hope to help modellers who want special spells but don't quite know how to put it together.
A number of the circus spells are pretty ambitious and the present list is only the beginning. Of course, when I play DS I will have further ideas, revise the stats so that they reflect DS spell mechanics, maybe get rid of a few spell ideas that can't be made to work or would cause problems for level design in DS and add new ones.
As to ideas for implementing spells. Yes. I've thought about this for a number of them. For example, I reckon Candy Floss can be implemented as simple Skrit and SiegeFX, probably using a ground-hugging fog or smoke effect coloured pink and applying the hold effect to those within its AoE.
Rabbit Trick requires a either a top-hat model, which ends up upside-down or a pointy wizard's hat ending up lying on its side. But if the menagerie that ships with DS has rabbits (and I'll be gobsmacked if it doesn't) then they can be used with various modifiers applied to them.
I think I agree that the look of items and spell-summoned objects, etc should be a medieval interpretation of modern-day circus items.
Thanks for the comments and any ideas are most welcome,
Cheers,
Jasp

I rather like that idea. A couple of mega spells are de rigueur for any well-rounded spell school (as are a couple of mainly entertaining but minimally useful cantrips).
Circus Stampede - yeah, I like that. We'll give that a go at some point.

I hope that Joe will be working on SpellForge and Graveyard Quest web sites. Would you like to get ideas out on the web?
I surely would. Apols for my silence of late. It's been a busy time. I'll say something more next week (Mon/Tue).

Joe, I think it looks awesome!!! Great job guys!
Let me know. I can add it into CVS and put it on the web site. (You can too, but you'll need some tools setup.)
That does look great!!!
Why doesn't an even cooler page open when I click on "Circus MAgic" :( ???
I want to see those spells, darnit!
Great font for the Buttons, BTW.

I think you need to get your site out there and put out your list of spells! You could then get people to talk about your ideas within the forum. :)

Now you need an "ultimate" type spell for Circus Magic. Like the meteor showers and such.
Like summoning a herd of hat-wearing elephants to flatten the enemy.
Ultimate spells, when you're high level and want to flatten a bunch of lowlevel creeps, are fun.
LOL!
