Seriously, just registered with SourceForge and would like to flag up my interest in joining DSDevGuild.
At the moment I still need to order my thoughts. My focus is conceiving, designing and implementing spells.
As mccann knows (if you remember me from PDS), I particularly want to design new spell schools and associated items.
I have one well-developed idea and another one bubbling under.
My initial objectives however, must be to
a) familiarise myself with DS editing tools
b) learn DS languages (skrit, GAS, SiegeFX, etc)
c) figure out the tools used by DSDevGuild
Anything else?
Other points:
My schools will be concept-themed rather than function-themed. IE. Not 'Abjuration' or 'Conjuring' but something like 'Ice Magic' or 'Flower Magic' (those are examples, I have no interest in either of those themes). [Yep, I'm a bit shy about my idea at the moment - not fully developed in terms of concept as yet.]
The biggest problem I foresee for my work will be the fact that many spells I would wish to design will have summoning at the heart of their functionality. When I can use the basic DS menagerie, I will. But custom creatures will be needed. Here's where I will need help.
Sorry to bang on, but I'm really looking forward to working with people on DS. Aside from my own spell school projects, anyone who wants custom spells for quests, etc, will definitely be able to count on me to do any required coding, if they want to spend their time on other things, such as modelling, etc.
Cheers,
Jasp

Oh, that is so sweet. If you're a regular reader of the boards, you know that summoning is near and dear to me. I have a Norse Mythos summoning plan, and could use the help, pulling in the Midgard Serpent and Might barbarian Tor into the game.
There's bound to be plenty of great areas to develop into.
So maybe we collaborate...

If I can help when I have a better understanding of skrit, GAS, SiegeFX, etc., then I would certainly try. I certainly will need some modellers to help me. (Not my field at all.)

Schools of magic? sounds like you've got some kickin ideas goin on there. i'll be glad to provide any assitance you may need, and i even have a few spells i'd love to see in a game, maybe they'll fit in with your designs. once the game is out, and we're all up to par with the editor, we'll have to have a major spell building party one day (or one week.) i got you covered on monsters for summoning, as well, so i think we'll have a pretty ripped game on our hands when it's all done.
