I've already contacted one or two of you, but here's the goods: I'd like to offer my services as a composer. I've done a couple games already, but I still feel like I'm just breaking into the game industry. Anyway, here's some music:
Yes, we will be needing music in this graveyard quest and in our other future projects. I just sent you and email. To sign you up, I need your sourceforge username.
Thanks!

Ok... I got them to work. For some reason neither my hard drive nor the WinAmp likes playing your .MP3s. It took several minutes for my machine to come back once I clicked on it and then several minutes before it was allowed to be added to the WinAmp play list. Oh well, not sure why.
However, your songs sound good. We might be able to use something like the creepy one in the graveyard quest. We would need to be able to loop the song and start playing different ones depending on the location and what is happening.
We'll start putting more thought into the type of sound we want and where we'll need different things soon after the quest/sub-quests are talked through. But, you can go ahead snd start thinking of ideas for a Valley of Undead. Read the game design doc in CVS... it will help in understanding where we are at in the design and what will (most likely) be in the first quest.
id be more than happy to lay down any drum tracks that are needed....just need to buy a decent mic.
by the way, can do some rocking music for this game. im sick of every game having lame music. I dont know bout the rest of you but every game i play i always end up shutting off the music and just using my mp3's.

Those are some good compositions... I especially like the Epic, Conan-like feel of the Creeps piece.
If you'd like to begin considering pieces in general, you might pen something for "Epic Summonings", that is, spells that draw in MAJOR beings/forces to help fight.
Details to come...

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I don't know all the details of the music we will need for the graveyard quest, however, I would think that some Erie music that you might hear in a scary movie... not the part where the person is about to get killed, but the background... like I'm walking around and something is not right.
Just keep thinking Graveyard and I'm sure you'll hit something cool! Strings would definitely be used... not sure what else. Looking forward to hearing some more of your work.

I like creepy drums in the distance type sounds. There are some pieces of music, I'm thinking now of the beginning of some of the tracks on "The last of the mohicans" soundtrack now, that absolutely SOUND as if they are coming through fog. Drum in the distance is creepy to me. And like was said, violin is probably the second creepiest of the "real" instruments.
Chanting tops them all, though! Anybody see "Young sherlock holmes"???
Somebody recommend good music to "create" to? Like instrumentals while modeling? In addition to deCosta's work, of course.

Yes, KC hit it on the head...
distant drums... possibly getting louder as we get closer to the father?
a chanting of 'dark angels' sound where it is faint, but erie.
We'll probably need some wailing and crying with some zombie moans... can't remember the game, but it was a 3rd or 1st person game where you heard crying in the distance ... like a mother for her child. Might be good when in the tomb and tomb dungeons.
Good music to create to... :) that is a good idea... to get you in the right mood.

had to listen to it twice, as my poor internet connection can't QUITE pull as fast as i listen to it, but the second time around was quite good. if i had more of a musical background, i'd be able to give you lots of input. for now, you rock, keep it up.

I have a friend who composes music also. His dream is to compose music for a game studio. I'm sure he'd be interested in joining us... He's extremely good at game soundtracks and has done a few already!

Spielberg said "Half the movie experience, is the soundtrack..."
Somthing to keep in mind, regarding its importance.
Richard, I downloaded The Creeps and it was GREAT!

I look forward to the different songs and sounds we will have in the quests.
Also, we will need some music for our Flash advertisement of our game. Hopefully, it will feel like a trailer to a movie.

Sounds great. I'll start working up some ideas this afternoon.

Here is an orchestral sketch for the main graveyard music.

Very nice. I'll keep listening to it as I work on story, modeling, web site, etc and I'll let you know if there are any critiques.
But, it is sounding very good!

for a grave yard moteef? you always need someone throwing out a sharp hi pitched chick scream every now and then.
ba dudu ba dudu AAAAHHH (in the distance) ba dudu... you get the idea.
I have a friend who composes music also. His dream is to compose music for a game studio. I'm sure he'd be interested in joining us... He's extremely good at game soundtracks and has done a few already!
Get him to send us some of his works (or links to it) and apply to join. There will be a lot of opportunities for doing music.
He's in the process of doing that now. :) He'll be glad to hear of the opportunity.
