Progress

Although progress is slow, the rollout of the new framework is moving forward. The new design is much more efficent and scalable. Look for an early alpha release soon.

Updates - Updates -Updates

Taking time of the rebuild, I got a chance to work on patching our present production version. Sometimes it is fun to run an alpha in production!

So what has been changed?

Most importantly: 'Preview Update' - 15000+ lines of code crunched to find the 10 or so lines that were the offenders. Found the problem and changed the code. The original problem was that the server housing the pdfs was a NW server and every time I used filemtime() it would change the time, so it was always new. Moving away from NW4 I save the modified time in the DB for later refrence. This way time differences between servers (if you are using a remote (nfs) store) doesnt matter.... read more

Press Interface Revision

I had a little meeting with the pressmen last week. They enlightened me on several problems with the first verson of the press interface. The most important being, the inability to collect data as they went. I had designed the interface purposly not to do this, since I thought they wouldn't have time. I guess they write on a piece of paper now, so they could put it in just as easy. My bad. :) Look for the new version. We are shooting for 3/1/03 for V0.6A and the new press interface. Then 3/12/03 for V0.7A that will feature a new templated frontend. Most of the other parts of PT already support templates, so it is only natural.
